Car review

BAC Mono

Take an Ariel Atom, add approximately 150% more coolness, final product, the BAC Mono. This one seat track car is a homegrown British creation with enough power to rival any super car. It may only have a S4 engine but that engine produces 280 bhp. This power boosts it to a top speed of 290 kilometres an hour. It can reach 100 km in a savagely quick 2.8 seconds which is about the same as a Bugatti Veyron. Its S4 engine has been tuned by Cosworth so that explains its power. All in all, a great car.

My view:

It may only seat one person, but it still puts a silly smile on your face when you drive it. We'd have ours in titanium grey.

This weeks car...

Citroen Ds3 Racing

Your average family car, only with more powerrrrrr. The Citroen Ds3 racing is a modified version of the normal Ds3. Its straight four engine gives it 202 horse power which is more than any other S4 car.  It can reach 100kmh in under 7 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 225kmh. Not so average family car but the most amazing thing about this car is that it only costs NZ$44,000 so its a cheap way to reach 200kmh.

My view:
Who would not like a sports performance car for only NZ$44,000? (considering that other alternatives cost over NZ$75,000)

Interesting fact: The Ds3 was originally ment for the Citoen racing team.

Pagani Huayra

The Pagani Huayra is a two seat beast of a machine that can reach a speed of 343kmh.
Its super light body helps it with this. Its the only car in the world to be made entirely out of Carbotanium which is a mixture of carbon fiber and titanium. Drivers can enter its leather clad cockpit via spectacular gullwing doors. This car can go so fast that it needs extra panels on its body to stop it from flipping on to its side. I don't think you want that happening considering that it costs NZ$1,400,000 and the repairs often cost more. The Huayra gets its name from the South American god of winds. This is linked to Horacio Pagani's (Pagani CEO) Argentinean heritage.

My view:
The Huayra is one of those cars that takes years of planning and when its here, it was worth the effort.

Interesting fact:
Even through Horacio Pagani is from
South America, the company is based in Italy.

Koenigsegg ccx

You would need a lot of money to own this car as it has a steep price of NZ$4,850,000. It will also bite you hard when it comes to refuelling. It needs a staggering 22 liters of petrol to go 100km. The Swedish hyper car can reach a top speed of over 400kmh. It has been used once on the English car show Topgear, only to be crashed into a tire wall on their test track (the repairs must have cost a fortune!). Despite its speed, it has quite a small engine but obviously here, size does not matter.

My view:
Who would want a two seat car that costs TOO much money and needs TOO much fuel. I would.

Interesting fact:
Every car that Koenigsegg have ever made costs over NZ$2,000,000.

Audi R8 V10 Plus

The Audi R8 V10 Plus is probably one of the most aggressively styled cars I have ever seen. I say aggressive because LED clusters on its headlights give it an angry expression. The German speed machine has a sleek and aerodynamic shape that helps it reduce drag and boy does it work! It works so well in fact it has been used to build one of Audi's fastest race cars. The R8 can reach its top speed of 320kmh in around 3.3 seconds. This might be why it was made into a race car

My View:

The Audi R8 is comparable to an ipad. You don't need one, its quite expensive, but you still want it because its an amazing thing.

Interesting fact: The name of the racing R8
is Audi R8 Le Mans ultra Quattro.

Jaguar F-Type

The newly released British sports car is rapidly become known across the world as on of the best cars of all time. Its supposed   to be the replacement for Jaguars 1961 E-Type (a little late in my opinion). Its supercharged engine gives it an amazing noise which echos of any surrounding objects. Jaguar are advertising the F-Type with the phrase 'What comes after E ?' which makes sense seeing as it comes after the E-Type. The convertible speeder has a
top speed of around 300kmh, but when you go this fast in a convertible it could get dangerous. To solve this problem, Jaguar has given the F-Type  a rear spoiler that deploys at 100kmh.

My view:
The F-Type is a car built for fun and fun only. This is what makes a great car.

Interesting fact:
The seat supporters on the F-type come in your choice
of chrome, black chrome and carbon fiber.

Lexus LFA
A computer on wheels is the best way to describe the Lexus LFA seeing as it is loaded with gadgets galore including touch screen controls, a mouse pad and a digital speedometer because a normal one couldn't keep up with it. The interior features leather seats, but no drink holders. This two seat speed machine features huge air scoops that it needs to cool its large engine which produces around 560 horse power. Jeremy Clarkson from Top gear UK even said that it was the best car he has ever driven after using it it the Top Gear USA special. It has a top speed of 325kmh which makes it the fastest Lexus made to date.

 My view:
The Lexus LFA is a car that is built for speed but not one that is one my wish list.

Interesting fact: The LFA took around 11
                                                                    years of planning to make.

 Maserati Granturismo MC Stradale

Ever wanted a car that has enough power to rival a space ship? If so, the Maserati MC Stradale is the car for you. The Italian sports car is savagely quick thanks to its super light body which is mostly carbon fiber. Its interior is crammed with gadgets such as buttons that control the noise of its powerful engine. It has a top speed of 303kmh which makes it one of the fastest
Maserati cars ever made! Flicks of carbon fiber at the front of this car (to give down force) give it an almost angry look and the headlights ad to this factor.

My view:
The stylish speed machine is one of the cars I'd LOVE to own, but with a price of NZ$216,500 I don't think I will ever have one

Interesting fact:
The Stradale is the sport edition of the 'Granturismo' series

Gumpert Apollo S

Meet the machine that can get you to 200kmh in under 9 seconds. Built for speed, the Apollo S is the brain child of Roland Gumpert, an ex-Audi engineer. Made in 2011, the Apollo was a monstrous machine. It wasn't street legal when first made, but after adding brake lights and indicators, it could be used on the road. The two seat speed machine could race to 100km/h in 2.8 seconds and would then go on to a top speed of 360km/h. I must admit to the fact that this could well be one of my favorite cars in the world, but seeing that it has a price of NZ$ 900,000 I don't think I'll ever own one. It has a SUPER light body weighing only 1224 kg (it is light for a car).

My view:
The Gumpert Apollo gets 10/10 from me. Its a great car to drive and I would
                                                                    LOVE to own one.

                                                                    Interesting fact:
Gumpert is trying to make the Apollo the
                                                                     fastest car in the world!

Mercedes-Benz SLS E-cell

Meet the most powerful electric sports car in the world. The E-cell is only a concept car which means that it might not be produced, but Mercedes are making a production version called the electric drive. Its supposed to be faster than the concept E-cell. The E-cell is a electric version of the SLS petrol. The petrol SLS is powered by a powerful engine and can reach 100kmh in 3.8 seconds. So can the electric one. The E-cell gets its power from 4 electric motors at each of its wheels. These motors boost it to a top speed of around 300kmh.

My view:
The E-cell shows what other electric cars can't, that electric cars can still be fun in the future.

Interesting fact:
Each of the motors in the SLS are hand built in Germany

Lamborgini Aventador

Around forty years ago, Lamborgini made serious super cars. Nowadays, they are just  insane, they are faster and even more powerful. Say hello to the 691 horse power Aventador. This beastly creation boasts a powerful engine that guzzles about 21.3l of petrol per 100km! (An average family car consumes around 5.6l). Even though driving this car will not solve the problem of global warming, it would still put a big smile on my face if I ever do get to drive it. It goes from 0 - 100km in 2.9 seconds and I think I would like to experience the feeling of being forced deep into the drivers seat by the immense power of this car.

My view:
The Lamborgini Aventador is what dreams are made of but with it's price of NZ $700,000 it will be hard to get hold of one
because I barely have $15 dollars.

Interesting fact: You may want to consider
moving to Dubai sometime this year
seeing as the police purchased 15
